As I was trying to drift off to sleep tonight, this poem wandered through my mind, waiting, hoping for an escape. Finally, I had to get up and write it down, lest sleep elude me...
Within the rain-wrapped slumber
The storm pushes through my dreams
Urging me, beckoning me, stalking me
With promises of beautiful sleep.
Knowing the dread of the pounding
Will wake me throughout the night
The storm lulls me into the deepness
And wraps its arms around me tight.
Within its arms I find peace and comfort
In this calming yet strange embrace
The night steals a gentle kiss
As I dream of heaven's face.
